This has been a really difficult year for everyone, but there have been unforeseen benefits. This past year forced us to shift our programs online – thereby benefitting families far and wide that we hadn’t been able to reach beforehand.
Murray is one of those people. Murray began attending our online programs, providing him with a community who understood what he was experiencing as a foster parent.
Murray also attended a 3-week parenting class we provided online where he received support and training to provide the special care his 6 children need.
I was desperate. We were feeling helpless and alone and powerless. We were seeking people who understood. Foster care can be very isolating. Love Moves Us has people who understand which is HUGE. It is motivating and healing to have that connection.
In his words, LoveMoves.Us has provided Murray with:
He was apprehensive about being in one of Love Moves Us groups because he had been in support groups before that were judgmental and he didn’t free to talk about things as he needed to.
"But Love Moves Us group was refreshing. The further we got into the Zoom call, we felt free to talk about the things going on. We were heard and acknowledged and people cared about our feelings. That’s what sold me on Love Moves Us."
“Love Moves Us has helped me realize it’s ok for me to fail, make mistakes and recover. For a long time I felt like I was failing and causing more harm than good. One of the biggest things for me was realizing I’m not the only one who makes mistakes.”
Donors are the people that keep Love Moves Us Family Gatherings going! They give people a place to volunteer and serve. Volunteers at gatherings provide, an often, much needed break from parenting, which is invaluable.
Volunteers make it possible for parents like Murray to connect with other parents and have conversations about parenting, adoption and foster care they need to have. It’s a gift every parent is grateful for.
When you donate to LoveMoves.Us, you impact lots of families like Murray’s. Thank you.
